Inter Milan have reportedly never officially approached Como manager Cesc Fabregas regarding a potential move to San Siro.

Speaking to Sportitalia via FCInterNews, Como sporting director Carlalberto Ludi shed light on this matter.

After Simone Inzaghi informed the club of his agreement with Al-Hilal, Inter had little time to find a new coach.

Indeed, with the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup around the corner, Beppe Marotta was racing against the clock.

Cesc Fabregas initially emerged as a top candidate to fill the managerial vacancy at San Siro.

Furthermore, the local press went as far as to suggest he was on the verge of signing a contract.

However, talks with Como never took off, while Fabregas never expressed any ambition to leave Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

As a result, Inter turned to Cristian Chivu.

The 2010 treble winner returned to his old stomping ground in a different capacity to replace Inzaghi.

Meanwhile, Fabregas has remained at Como, insisting he wants to build a legacy at the club.

According to Ludi, Inter chiefs have never met Fabregas in person.

“I’m not aware of any meeting between Inter and Fabregas,” Lodi confirmed.

“We have always had an excellent relationship and great understanding with Cesc from the very beginning.

“He has always reiterated that, if he were given the opportunity to further develop the project, he would have stayed,

“We never doubted his words, and to be honest, we never really worried that he might leave.

“We never considered looking for an alternative.

“In our view, if Inter were in a position to approach our coach on a given day in June, we would have made our decision the next day.

“We didn’t want to give Fabregas any reason to think that we were considering a replacement.”
