A positive result this evening would extend that run to six, marking the club’s longest unbeaten streak against Lazio in Serie A in over a decade.

Indeed, since the stretch between April 2004 and May 2010, when Inter went 13 matches without defeat in the fixture.

That period, fittingly, coincided with Chivu’s own time as a player at San Siro, when he helped Inter lift multiple trophies.

Now, 15 years later, the Romanian coach stands on the touchline and is seeking to maintain the club’s dominance in a fixture that has often proved pivotal in the title race.

Last season, this fixture took place in May and a 2-2 draw effectively handed Napoli the Scudetto.
