Leon Goretzka has fuelled speculation over his future by openly admitting he would like to play abroad when he leaves Bayern Munich, a development that will have caught the attention of Inter Milan as they continue to monitor the Germany midfielder ahead of a potential free transfer move.
Speaking to Sky Sports Deutschland, via FCInterNews, after starring in Bayern’s 4-1 demolition of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Goretzka addressed his future.
His contract with the Bavarian giants expires at the end of the season.
And, indeed, his comments suggest a move away from the Bundesliga is firmly on his mind.
“I would even say that playing abroad would appeal to me,” he said.
“I would like to play competitive football abroad. I will not make my next move dependent on the weather, but we will find something beautiful.”
Goretzka Drops Bayern Munich Exit Hint As Inter Wait
The comments represent the clearest indication yet that Goretzka is ready for a new challenge outside Germany.
Inter have already made contact with his representatives to establish the parameters of a potential deal, though his salary demands and signing-on fee requirements remain the primary hurdle.
Premier League clubs, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are also in the race.
However, Goretzka’s openness to a move abroad, combined with Inter’s early footwork, keeps the Nerazzurri firmly in contention.
