Inter are unstoppable away from home: in the 2012/13 season Inter have won 8 of their 8 away games, in chronological order, against Hajduk Split and Vaslui (0-3 and 0-2 respectively in the Europa League), Pescara, Turin and ChievoVerona (0-3, 0-2 and 0-2 respectively in the Serie A), Neftchi Baku (1-3 in the Europa League), AC Milan and Bologna (0-1 and 1-3 in the league).

The last away match that Inter failed to win goes back to 13 May this year with a 3-1 loss against Lazio in Rome in the Serie A. The Nerazzurri have not enjoyed such a streak away from Milan since the December 2006 to March 2007 period when they actually won 9 in a row, between matches of the Serie A and Coppa Italia.

And while Stramaccioni’s team may have let in their first goal in competitive matches after 288 minutes, and away from home after 365 minutes, the match also witnessed the first goals of the 2012/13 Serie A season for Andrea Ranocchia (a dry spell that went back to 18 December 2011 in Cesena 0-1 Inter) and Esteban Cambiasso (who had last scored in Cagliari 2-2 Inter on 7 April).

After 9 league matches Stramaccioni’s Inter have the same amount of points as they did in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons (when Inter were in first place; in the first case level with Palermo and in the second case alone), one less than the treble-winning side (2009/10, when they were league leaders with 22 points) and 13 more than one year ago.
