After a career where he has played at a high level at Roma, Inter and Milan, Amantino Mancini now plays in the Brazilian serie B. The 34 year old scored a goal for his America Mineiro a few days ago. Mancini was interviewed by the site gianlucadimarzio.com and the main topic was why he returned to Brazil.

“After Inter I decided to return because I did not play much and I was missing my family and my country. For those reasons I decided to return to Brazil.”

The topic then changes to the experience at Inter that began in the summer of 2008:

“But Inter wanted me before that; actually it was Roberto Mancini that wanted me at all costs. For some reason or other the deal did not go through though.”

You arrived at Inter with Mourinho on the bench. What kind of coach is he?

“He is a winner. He has won wherever he has gone. I got along great with him the first year, I played a lot in the league and not just there. In the second year he did not play me. He changed the team tactics and I could not find any space but I still do not have any resentment towards him.”

You were part of the Triplete squad as well.

“Yes I was also there. I was part of the group even though I honestly did not play much. But I still carry beautiful emotions with me, important ones. Those I did experience.”

Will Mancini be able to get Inter back to the top?

“I think so yes, and I will explain why as well. He is a coach that has won a lot but above all he understands football. The team is going through a bit of an odd period now but I am convinced that Mancini will bring Inter back to the top.”
