Sampdoria Director Carlo Osti has confirmed that coveted midfielder Lucas Torreira will not leave the blucerchiati in the upcoming January mercato.
“He has made the transition from Serie B to Serie A with ridiculous ease,” Osti said in an interview with La Repubblica earlier today.
The Uruguayan has came in to links with Inter among other top European clubs and Osti was firm in saying that the 21-year-old will not leave in January.
“No-one will leave in January [including Torreira], even if everyone is already asking me about him.”
Osti concluded by revealing what he thinks Torreira could add to his game to make him the perfect player in his role.
“If he scored even just a few more goals, he would be perfect.”
Torreira has also attracted interest from Premier League club due to his performances this term under Marco Giampaolo’s tutelage at the Marassi. He renewed his contract in the summer and is under contract through to 2022 but it looks unlikely that he will in fact see it out in its entirety.
