During Saturday’s game between Lazio and Cagliari the Lazio supporters honored Tommaso Rocchi with a banner reading ‘105 volte grazie Capitano‘ and thanked thus their former striker and captain for the 105 goals he scored wearing the Lazio shirt. In an interview with Radio Radio, Inter’s new striker thanked his former fans: “When I saw the Lazio Fans’ banner, I got goose bumps, I know they were singing my name and it made me very happy. The affection and the love I received from Lazio supporters remains forever, I’ll take it with me and will tell my children about it. It is the most beautiful thing, and it continues, there’s no doubt about it.”

He also returned to talk about the statements he made at the press conference when he was presented as an Inter player: “When I said that Inter will end up ahead of Lazio in the table it was not my intention to start any controversy, but instead my statement was reported as if I had something against Lazio. But now I play with Inter and want them to end up ahead of everyone, not only Lazio. It’s two great teams with great players, perhaps, Inter has currently stalled a bit unlike Lazio who have won lately and managed to reach farther in the table, but they are two teams that are here to fight for first place in the table and will do so until the end.”

On Lazio and coach Petkovic’ recent victories: “The team has always been strong, but it’s obvious that when you reach a certain level, there is more pressure on you and it is difficult to maintain your position. But I am convinced that Lazio will play there until the very end because they have a good team.”

He concludes by talking about a possible return to Lazio in a leadership role: “I’d love to do so, but in my mind, I am confident that I will be able to play a few more years. Anyway, I have already spoken to Lazio and it is the will of both parties, so when the time is right to reach an agreement, we will meet and evaluate this idea.”
