“We knew that Palermo would play aggressively and that they prepared for the game all week. But we basically scored on ourselves, then we managed to equalize and play well for 30 minutes. And we did score. In the last part of the game we were waning and risked losing the game. But then football is like that, we looked like we were losing and instead went close to winning it with Osvaldo’s chance.”
This was the analysis of Mazzarri after the game when talking to Mediaset Premium after the 1-1 draw in Palermo. The coach then talked about Kovacic;
“I know where he performs the best, the lad is growing and he has really matured (as a player). He has begun scoring but the problem is he was sidelined for 4-5 days due to injury. At the end he was tired. The annulled Icardi-goal? We aren’t lucky, it would have made it all different and I would have made other subs.”
Regarding the foul on Nagatomo by Belotti;
“The defender is defending the ball, he is pushed and shoved to the ground. We put three strikers in on the pitch, we are trying ot create an Inter mentality. But today it went like this; we saw how the game began. Tomorrow I’ll talk to the lads again, we need to grow a lot more.”
The subject then went to the absence of Palacio;
“We miss him. Osvaldo isn’t in perfect condition, Mauro is always playing and Rodrigo is on his way back. He would have been good to help me give one of the other two a rest.”
And about Guarin;
“He is doing well also as a striker. The important thing is that he shows continuity and that he is focused in both phases. At a technical and physical level he could do everything.”

I see a lot of people here that still maintain the same old Inter mentality, about switching coaches when things don’t go well, and keep dreaming about El cholo or Mourhino. When we win, we win because of the players but when we loose we loose because of WM… Yeah right… I think WM did everything people has been complaining about. Kovacic from the begining, Guaring in a more center-midifield position, no Jonny, no Kuz, 4 man defense, ended up playing with 3 strikers and two attacking midfielders. But, lets face it. Maybe because they were super tired or something else, most of the players did horrible, with a few exceptions. This is a new team that needs time to grow that is all I can say. By the way I am not a fun of WM. But, I am not a hater, and I rather analyze the game from what I see.
This inter team could not handle the pressure of PALERMO, a team promoted from Serie B……..What can you expect to have when when you face the big Boys in Serie A ? Last year between Juve – Roma – Napoli inter won ZERO games and only managed 3 out of a possible 18 points. This I understand because Inter was playing SUPERIOR teams so it’s only natural that the better team wins. The problem I have is with the weaker teams…..between
Chievo-Atalanta-Cagliari inter managed ZERO wins and only 4 points…..what’s wrong these teams too good for Inter ?? were the defense of these 3 teams too strong for inter to penetrate? or was it taht Mazzarri’s strategy to weak to implement ?? just put it this way….for the possible 36 points between Juve – Roma – Napoli-Chievo-Atalanta-Cagliari inter only managed 7 points last year…….that’s pathetic. and people on this site think inter is good enough to finish 3rd? lol, good luck. PS-i could care less who joined inter this year….same ole coach, same ole tactics, same ole results….
For the very same reason as you i’m waiting and hold myself until Inter met fellow big teams. Not praising much when we wins nor being so critical about WM and teams when we got not so good result. Let’s wait and see if WM can get better. Bad result, and a time bombs of curses gonna explode everywhere. Again though, that’s a very detail comment of you up there.
This season is a make or break for him. If what you say proves to be true, which in turn means we don’t achieve 3rd, Mazzarri is out.
Now if we see an improvement (the season is in early stages) and reach 4rd or better, then the coach was better than we thought and just needed more time for his work to show, and he’ll stay longer.
you are right in your perspective but I just don’t see inter finishing 3rd with WM as coach. If only Zanetti had the desire to coach inter he would be perfect for the job!
I’m going to give you a Juventino perspective on this game…….Vidic gives the ball the away 3 minutes in and Palermo scored. I get it, The player has jitters but now I understand why he was available on free transfer. Then the same guy jumps up for a header and forgot to communicate this to Osvaldo and Osvaldo failed to look back to see Vidic and involves himself in the play otherwise that was a goal. That was simply due to a lack of communication starting from from Vidic. Then there was an offside on Icardi – we can argue that too but this is soccer offsides happen. My question is this : what ever happened to SCORING FROM OPEN PLAY !!! Take Milan-Juve….did you see the build up before Tevez’s goal? that’s how you play soccer !! And WM is the second highest paid coach in Serie A and you think he’s the second best coach in Serie A ?? clearly no so he’s over paid and overrated.
Got treble?
Icardi’s goal was offside only in juBe land when Inter is playing. According to football rules it was not offside
Btw you got treble?
Can you please post a pic of your Serie B trophy, we don’t have that one here at Inter 😛 😀
For a non Inter fans you’ve analyzed the details of the game quite good, i myself won’t watch any of juve or milan’s game except when they fought Inter, nice to know that from you pal.
that’s a shame because that means for the last 4 years you haven’t watched the Serie A Champions hoist the Scudetto!
Well, to be fair, the result of the game aren’t completely the coach fault himself since some players doesn’t play well too. So yes, the blame goes to many including the coach, underperformed players and unfair refs. As for me, i’m gonna wait till the matches against other big teams, and for the sake of Inter and you yourself dearest coach, the results better be good, otherwise ….. lots of curses will come from many knowing that you’re nothing but sweet talker. I really hope you can do well though, i do.
we need Januzai from man.utd
Yes, Mazzarri did all he could. he changed formation, introduced a third striker, tried to win it. But the total lack of ideas throughout the whole game is all on him. Individual mistakes will happen, but I didn’t see a composed, organized team who knows what to do yesterday. I’m used to Inter underperforming, but we were pathetic at times.
Totally agree with you man, at one moment we had 2 attacking plays and Palermo had 13… whats up with that?! All I see Mazzari does is tells everyone what they want to hear, but I see none of it on the field. But this year he got the players he wanted, so he won’t be able to give excuses at the end of the year. I hope Thohir will do the right thing and replace him. I don’t see us finishing above fifth place, MAYBE fourth, but that’s the maximum.
Who would you replace WM with ?
There are lots of coaches available:
Roberto Mancini
Edy Reja
Walter Zenga
Alberto Zaccheroni
Serse Cosmi
Luigi Del neri
Clarence Seedorf
Gennaro Gattuso
Gennaro Gattuso is not available, he’s at OFI Crete.
sign of a shit “fans” when they blame everything and anything to a person even though that person had work his ass off for the team
Working hard != working good
working good != winning
I think wm tried his best, he fielding all offensive option he got to win the game.. don’t get me wrong, I usually hate wm for his stubbornnes but this time I must give him a credit for being brave.. and about guaro, I think he did everything he could too.. guaro is not the same selfish prick like he used to be anymore
I agree completely. Walter Mazzari did everything he should have done during and before the game. Our starting eleven was attacking, and substitutions were great by wm. Players just didn’t play properly. Mazzari did everything so I don’t blame him.
Not from the beginnig, because he started without dodo
As well as a 352 and he played guarin, who can’t pass,shit at decision making and for his shooting lmao
What did Dodo do when he eventually came on ?? Clearly he was tired, get a grip man!!
Mazz was excellent this game. I wasnt always his biggest fan but the guy is finally showing guts by bringing on all that firepower. I like this guy… we were just unlucky.
WM is an A**hole!
OH SERIOUSLY STOP WITH YOUR F*CKING EXCUSES ALREADY. This guy has an excuse for every lousy result he will ever achieve… Even if he gets the best 11 in Europe right now, under him they will play like clueless chicken, passing the ball in the back and claim that “the wall the other team built was impenetrable”.
I was really against Moratti’s impulsive coach-sacking, but this guy will not make Inter better than what we see right now. And me personally, don’t like the Inter of right now.
I think that it was simply an unlucky day. I don,t see it the fault of Vidic nor the refreee and not WM. Of course I think our 1st team had to be a little more diffrent and I really mean Johny had to start and I was sure about it that Nagatomo or Dambrosio won’t start considering they are tired after Dnipro. And then why for the sake of God you change the winning formula and replace Hernanes with Guarin while he has shown several times that he is best when comes on as a sub as his continuty.
Otherwise we could have won. Of course for a team that fights for the 3rd place has to win at least 50%of their semi tricky away matches per season.
Sign of a shit manager letting a donkey play everytime when the rest if the world kns he’s a fuck up. Yes u got it guarin the shittest player
do you think Thohir would be happy if one of his highest salary player benched all the time?
it’s kinda ironic when you had difficulty in financial but waste 3 millions/year on ‘luxury’ bench warmer player, LOL
we could cut the lost, but no, we want profit and asked big money for Guarin.
and yeah, it’s all Mazzarri’s fault, I know 😀
even the ebola in africa was Mazzarri’s fault after all, LOL

i think its not WM fault is about player error n sucking refeeree
I’m starting to think Mazzarri isn’t that good. 🙂
And we are paying him the most of all the coaches in Serie A. Interesting, no?
No. Benitez is.
