Joel Obi, the nigerian Inter midfielder spoke to Rai Sport after the derby draw.
“What has changed with Roberto Mancini? He asks us to play with two touches, that all of us should move and to have fun; I think that is important in a team that aims high. For me this is a very important evening, I really wanted to score. We know that we can become better following the coach and working hard.”
Was the position you played on tonight the ideal one for you?
“Yes, because I can attack the spaces. I need to improve a lot and I haven’t played there a lot but I think I can become a lot better. We work with the new coach since a week, we aren’t quite there yet but I think we can succeed.”
But do Inter and Milan play that bad?
“Regarding us we need to work and work, and then the beautiful play will arrive for us.”

He made mistake that lead to Milan goal, stupid mistake.. Fortunately, he scored..
I don’t remember beautiful play in Mancini’s era, just we had good defence and never conceded more than 3 goals per game.
with the new FIGC regulations which stepulates that we shoul have at least 4 players grown from the acadmy homegrown players like Obi are important, i predict this guy will be around for years even if not holding a starting place he is a good sub
i remember everyone raised their eyebrow when Obi is announced to play in this derby, and now he’s just show some of his capabilities in inter shirt, he’s unlucky to get so many injuries in the past
He’s the only player left from mou’s era, isnt it?
Obi never played under Mou.
it’s Khrin who actually got few minutes under Mou.
He used to be really good before his injury(s) unfortunately thats what happens. If he can rediscover his form he might be ok to keep.
We have too many players that are just ok to keep. Obi, Kuzmanovic, Nagatomo, Jonathan D’Ambrozio, Guarin are all either lacking class or heavily underperforming but we’re stuck with them because we can’t get a better player.
he can improve, this goal may boost his confidence.
I still don’t like him any more than a last-15 min-supersub but he did score a nice goal today.
hope obi does improve, for some reason inter has stuck with this kid for a long time. i think we might have seen just a glimpse of why they did
