The main sponsorship issue at Inter could be resolved shortly, and bring an important change. After an almost 20-year partnership Inter and Pirelli are close to the goodbyes. The substitute seems to be Etihad, the UAE company that bought 49% of Alitalia in 2014.
Etihad already sponsors Manchester City and are disposed to pay Inter 25 million euro’s per season for 5 years. Important numbers considering their rival in the skies, Emirates pays Milan 17 million euro’s and Fiat the same to Juventus. Obviously the 25 million would only be guaranteed if Inter qualify for the Champions League. Roberto Mancini would also have a role in the deal since he was contacted by Etihad to be a testimonial.
The Pirelli contract expires at the end of this season and they have so far not been interested in going close to the 20 million euro’s per season (Pirelli currently pay 13 million) Inter have asked for even thought they would like to remain as a main sponsor. The Etihad rumors will add pressure on Pirelli since a decision will have to be taken soon since Nike will need to start preparing merchandising material for the coming season.

Surprised over the general attitude from Inter-fans to this news really. Yeah of course it’s good money in, and another pinpoint that we’re moving in the right direction, but for me it’s a big BUT here.
I don’t know if everyone here are aware of all the bloodmoney that flows over in these kind of Persian investment groups, and this particular one is basically owned by the royale family and therefore supports an utter outdated rule, like Sharia-laws. People still get’s stoned in this country!
So really hope that the Inter board is smart enough to not affiliate themselves with these kind of ruhtless buisnessmen that do NOT care for human rights. There got to be some “cleaner” money out there that can sponsor us in familiar amount.

Sorry, replied a bit quick there 🙂 I also have to admit that I don’t know much about Sharia and how it is used in different countries. I am from Norway, and obviuosly have never been in any Persian/Arab countries. Just read some articles from time to time about this subject.
The media loves to highlight the bad countries and how they use it. I am studying law and what’s happenings in the gulf is applying a bit of religious laws with a lot of normal ones. There are scums who use “Sharia Law” in the wrongest ways (sadly these sons of bitches are the ones that make the loudest noise)
I am not at all trying to offend people from Abu Dhabi or around that region, just want people to think over where money often comes from in football and it’s use to glorify bad situations in countries for example in the gulf-area. But also Azerbaijan used same strategy when they sponsored Atletico.

Eh Pirelli threatened to stop sponsoring us if we don’t perform while they offered little money. If we can get 25 million € per season with Etihad, fuck Pirelli. Just like Thorir is reworking the club, old habits must die. It will be hard to forget Pirelli on our shirts, but we will be getting double the sponsor money.
