As always in Italy, there is a lot of focus on reviewing situations from last night’s game through video clips. This is exactly what La Gazzetta dello Sport did after the clash between Juventus and Inter and the analyses ended up in an ok for the referee Paolo Valeri who rarely ended up in problems in a game that was pretty fair with very few seriuos episodes: “He was certain (with some help from VAR) of the only controversial situation, when Inter wanted a penalty shot after the shot of Mauro Icardi ended up on the hand of Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia. The referee insists that there was no penalty and the video review supports that decision. The Juventus defender slipped and had his arm perpendicular behind his body, used for support on the ground. To sum it up, an involuntary hand ball. Valeri also got it right with the yellow cards, like the one given to Gonzalo Higuain after protests”.

Voluntary or not is irrelevant , arm well away from the body which blocks a shot= pk period.
He didn’t f–k slip!! He tried to block Icardi´s shot on goal but the ball went under him and in stead of blocking the ball with his body or legs he ended up blocking the shot and a potential goal with his hand – that is f–king illegal and should have been turned into a clear penalty!
You cannot stop a shot on goal with your arms or hands without the ref given the penalty!
Hell no. It was voluntary
We should know the official name of the VAR!
We even know the 15th assistant ref name and we do not know the name of the referee that might help more the main ref to decide if there is a penalty or foul or a handball or anything?
We should know his name since his decisions matter more than others!
Tagliavento.. or rocchi
We do know them
They give the name of the “Var assistants ” before each game.
You are right,i hadn’t notice it all this time! xD
