In an interview to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport former Inter player Dejan Stankovic gives his views on tonight’s game against Lazio and his relationship with the two teams: “With one team I started my career and with the other I ended my career. I can not forget my memories, Lazio will always be in my heart, but Inter is…well, Inter. It was truly an honor to wear this jersey and win everything we won wearing it. And to play at the Meazza was always a thrill, I was never afraid of th crowd, instead it was an extra charge. Inter in a tough period? Declines like this happen during a season and if you look away from these last two games Spalletti has made an incredible job of this team.”

Tough periods exist during a season, but did you expect it to come as hard? “I have to admit that I was a bit surprised. But we are not talking about an Inter syndrome. It does not exisst and has not ever existed. Instead you should take these periods of decline as something positive and learn to grow with it.”

Who will be the director of tonight’s game? “I would say Vecino in Inter and Milinkovic-Savic in Lazio.”

Is there someone or something missing in this Inter? “Nothing and no one. Two weeks ago when everything went well nothing was missed, the same goes for this tough period, it is just one of those things that can happen during a long season.”

So the UCL spot is within reach? “Not only the UCL spot! I also think there is the possibility to get the Scudetto. When the European cups are back, teams will start playing one game every third day. ”

But there are five teams for the four spots, who will be left out? “I do not know, but if I have to choose between Inter and Lazio I choose Inter. They deserve it looking at what the club represents. Uefa Champions League has to return to the nerazzurri part of Milan.”
