Former Sporting Director of Atalanta, Napoli and Udinese (among others) Pierpaolo Marino was interviewed by Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport and gave his opinions and predictions of this year’s mercato, starting with the ongoing on in January: “I think that Inter finally will get Javier Pastore from Paris Saint Germain, and this transfer deal is probably the only one that will take place in January for Inter. That because Pastore is a protege of Inter coach Luciano Spalletti and in Italy and the Serie A he could make the difference and shift the balance. If we are looking at Italy however I see a good player in the midfielder Nicola Barella.” – currently with Serie A side Cagliari – “Inter probably have to take a winger to Verdi and one or two defenders. Finally I think that Inter together with current Serie A leaders Napoli will be behind most of the activity of this first transfer window.”
