When the winter break is up, there will be only one addition to Inter’s roster and that player is Alessandro Bastoni who will increase the number of defenders in Inter’s squad after returning from his loan spell at Bergamo based club Atalanta. The timing is perfect since both Joao Miranda and Danilo D’Ambrosio are recovering from injuries.

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the roster changes do not end there. Inter management is still keeping a channel of communication open with the agents of Dutchman Stefan de Vrij, currently under a contract with Lazio. The 25-year-old has a contract that expires at the end of this season and does not wish to renew.

Inter are not without competition for the Dutchman though. Should Barcelona loose Samuel Umtiti to Manchester City, chances are that the Catalan club will enter the race for de Vrij. Inter will not give up easily and continue to show interest with an offer of €4 million per year. That would mean de Vrij and Milan Skriniar will be Inter’s future when it comes to central defenders since it looks unlikely that Joao Miranda will renew his contract.
