After plenty of speculation linking him to Inter, Dutch central defender Stefan de Vrij finally has decided to renew his contract with Lazio. De Vrij, due to his inital unwillingness to renew his current contract with Lazio expiring this summer, was linked to many of Europe’s top clubs, but has according to reports now reached an agreement with Lazio. The new contract however has a special clauses related to Lazio’s performance as a team in the Serie A, here are some of the details of the new contract according to Premium Sport. The contract de Vrij is about to sign will be unusually short, with a duration only until June 2019. But, after the two parties finally came to an agreeement, a most intriguing clause in the contract will automatically renew it from 2019 to 2021 under the condition that Lazio will finish this season amongst the top 4, thereby being qualified for next season’s Uefa Champions League.
