Inter restart the season with a draw at home at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza against Roma thanks to a late goal from Matias Vecino that keeps the 3 point distance in the league table against Roma, at least for now. Inter coach Luciano Spalletti gave his opinions of the game in an interview with Premium Sport

Has Santon apologized to you after having done so to the fans?

“He does not have to apologize to anyone. It is easy to talk as a bystander and another thing to be on the pitch. Who should he apologize to? These are things that happen. Santon is a guy that trains in the right way with the right attitude, it is common that you misjudge a ball and what about the other players that did not give him a hand? If he apologizes to me he does not play another game. We are Inter and we have to have the courage to continue on the right path and fight with teams like Lazio and Napoli, strong teams with a strong character.”

Inter reacted strongly after the 70th minute, what is missing in order to have as high level of play from the start?

“I think 70 minutes seem a bit exaggerated, Handanovic did not make the saves that Alisson did. We failed a lot in our construction phase, they were all over us taking away the available space and we needed to be quicker with the ball. If you can not do this during the game it means that you are lacking a bit of self-esteem and strength. We must rely on our strength and our playing capabilities, again we lost too many balls during the build-up phase. In the second half when we corrected everything in terms of pressure, we saw some really good plays.”

Can Brozovic improve more?

“With Brozovic and a Borja Valero deep there is a certain filter compared to Gagliardini when Roma start with Nainggolan and the others. Brozovic has proven himself on many occasions and if he shows good form I will play him. I always chose the players that I think will form the best possible team.”
