Immediately after the final whistle in the Serie A fixture between Inter and Benevento, Antonio Candreva talked to Inter TV about the important 2-0 win that finally gave Spalletti’s team and the fans some happiness: “After this tough period, all that counted was a win. Especially after the tough away loss against Genoa. An important win heading to the derby and the final stage of this season.
“During the first half the game was a bit blocked, but in the second half, when both teams were a bit tired, there were space to work with. Now we have to restart from this” Candreva continued.
The former Lazio player was asked about the importance of scoring the first goal in the match stating that “of course it was super important, after that goal everything got a bit easier since our opponents had to go for the equaliser, we got more space in the offensive phase. After the second goal we went back to do stuff that we are familiar with, like the goals kind of released us. Now we take our play from the last 30 minutes with us. Also on a personal level this was a special moment, now we have to keep our heads up and aim for the Champions League.”
