Inter coach Luciano Spalletti was interviewed by Premium Sport following the goalless draw between in Inter and Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in an intense and eventful Derby della Madonnina.

How do you feel right now?

“For sure I feel fine, the team just had a game where they proved to know in what direction to go. This is the most important thing, the result is secondary.”

Milan remains 8 points behind, what has changed in the race for the Champions League?

“For us nothing has changed, we have gained a point on the others. Yes, we have left Milan 8 points behind us but they are still in the race.”

About Icardi’s missed opportunities, what do you have to say?

“Nothing, these things happen. I am sorry for the three points that would have meant a lot for us.”

Did Inter deserve the win?

“That kind of discussion does not interest me. I do not care about weather or not we were the better team, about the disallowed goal of Icardi, about the missed opportunitites. We did a good game and we have to continue with that, being more evil on the pitch.”

But Inter showed a lot of great personality tonight.

“According to me, now we are more like a team, in the past I have criticised the team for not playing well. Now, I can see a strong Inter and I am confident about the future. I am happy what the lads are doing on the pitch. There are some moments where we need to keep the ball instead of moving it into a zone where we are outnumbered. ”

What about the improvement of the team?

“There are still some areas where we can improve, and those we have to improve really fast. We are still too few players for when we deliver the crosses. Perisic had 10 of them from the left today, Candreva and Cancelo others from the right but we do not arrive in the area with enough force. Gagliardini and Brozovic both have the physicality to hurt you and Gagliardini need to stop going for crosses from the wing, he needs to stop engaging in certain situations, maybe not hit as many crosses as he sometimes does. But that does not matter, maybe he can arrive at the right spot and go for goal. These are some of the areas where we can improve.”
