“Do we like Matteo Politano? We like a lot of things.”

This was the answer Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio had for journalists in Milan last night, shortly after the player’s agent Davide Lippi had confirmed the Nerazzurri’s interest for the Sassuolo forward.

“Lippi was at Inter headquarters with another client, third goalkeeper Tommaso Berni, in order to renew his contract until 2019. The question regarding Politano becomes more and more interesting for every day that passes because both Napoli and Roma are monitoring the youngster closely and Inter considers the player to be a realistic target.”

This is what Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport had to say about the situation on Friday morning, while continuing to present other names of players that might be in targets for the Nerazzurri.

“In a situation where everybody is waiting to see what will happen with the Financial Fair Play restrictions a lot of names are being presented to the Inter management.

“Those names include Cristiano Piccini (right full-back) from Sporting, Jonathan Bamba (22 years old) with an expiring contract with St Etienne and Nicolas Gonzalez (20 years old) at Argentinos Juniors. All names that are considered to be interesting. A bit closer to a deal is Lucien Adong, central midfielder of Sochaux (16 years old).
