Inter’s bitter rivals Juventus, are closer to signing Joao Cancelo than they are to signing Matteo Darmian according to Milano-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

This is partly thanks to the wishes of the Portuguese full-back who wants to continue in the Serie A after the successful stint he had on loan at Inter this past season. According to the report “Should he choose Juventus, this would be a minor insult to Inter who, due to FFP restrictions, failed to activate the buy-out clause of €35 million.”

The Gazzetta continues to explain that Valencia are also having a hard time regarding the FFP rules and are thereby willing to sell the player. But Cancelo will not be playing for Wolverhampton according to the Gazzetta, the rich club that recently got promoted to the English Premier League. “Wolves” have the ability to build a good team thanks to all the money they have but that is just not enough for Cancelo who even resisted phone calls from Wolverhampton coach Nuno Esperito Santo, the man who brought him to Valencia. In the meantime, interest from Manchester United has cooled off, especially since they recently signed Diogo Dalot.

What remains to be seen is whether or not Valencia will lower their demands or if Juventus will meet the current demands.
