Starting from next week there are good chances that Inter’s Argentinian star striker Mauro Icardi will sign a new contract with Inter according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.
This would, besides securing Icardi for a couple more years, see the release clause valid only for foreign clubs, of 110 million euros (expiring July 15th) disappear completely, the Roman newspaper believe. Something that Inter management would enjoy a lot because the fear of losing Maurito is as big as the joy they will feel once the contract is renewed.
Even if the contract is still is not signed, as things stand foreign clubs have been silent on the Icardi front, something that Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello pointed out last Monday. Inter management has underlined that renewal talks will take place soon and in the meantime they have sent signals to Maurito that he would get a salary bump which would guarantee him €6.5 million plus bonuses (as opposed to his current salary of €5.5 million plus bonuses). His agent and wife Wanda Nara has meanwhile requested €8 million.
