Today marks the official start of the 2018/2019 season with Inter set to face Swiss side Lugano in a friendly game at Stadio Cornaredo at 20.00 CET.
Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport explains what we can expect from the match: “Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi was present on the pitch during yesterday’s training session and it is not excluded that the Inter captain will travel with the team to Lugano today where Inter will make the season debut against the hosts tonight. Most probably though, Icardi will not be given any playing time since he currently is following a different kind of training program in his pre-season preparations.”
La Gazzetta dello Sport also presents the probable starting formation of Inter which, should it be correct, means that De Vrij, Politano, Nainggolan and Martinez will all make their Inter debuts tonight:
INTER (4-2-3-1): Daniele Padelli; Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan De Vrij, Andrea Ranocchia, Dalbert; Roberto Gagliardini, Xian Emmers; Matteo Politano, Radja Nainggolan, Antonio Candreva; Lautaro Martinez.
