Legendary Manchester United defender Gary Neville has labelled Alexis Sanchez’s spell with the club as an disaster after the attacker completed a move away from the club to Inter.

The Chilean national team player freed himself from the remaining two years of his contract with the Premier League club and joined Inter on a free transfer on a three year contract yesterday following a successful loan spell with the Nerazzurri side.

“I thought he was going to be a scoring striker and tenacious, but Sanchez was an absolute disaster. I have no idea what happened to him,” Neville, who spent his entire career with Manchester United, told British broadcaster Sky Sports, yesterday.

“It must have been his double that played. Nobody could have foreseen what happened and how badly he would have done. He was not the same player as he at Arsenal.”

Sanchez has a forgettable spell with the Red Devils following a move from fellow Premier League side Arsenal but during his loan spell with Inter, he has managed to get his career back on track.

The 31-year-old, who will reportedly earn around €9 million a year at Inter, has made 30 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided 10 assists for his teammates.
