Inter could have new owners by the end of this month, according to an Italian newspaper report today.

As per Corriere della Sera’s print edition, the sale of Inter’s shares has entered into a completely new phase after the collapse in negotiations with BC Partners.

Inter are now ready to entertain other interested funds and there is no shortage of potential buyers for the majority at Inter, who, despite the currently unfavourable economic situation, are valued in the region of €1 billion.

Ares, Fortress, Arctos and EQT are four funds interested in potential investment into Inter and while Ares could be seen as being in the lead at the moment, an eye must be kept on Fortress.

At the moment, they’re all going it alone but it cannot be excluded that they could team up, similarly to how some funds have combined for the Serie A TV rights issue.

Given the economic difficulties that Inter are experiencing, the sale of the club has a certain time attached to it and the puzzle must be resolved quickly as all the uncertainty, risks causing a lot of harm.
