Inter considered a move for Liverpool defender Ozan Kabak as a replacement for Milan Skriniar last summer, according to an Italian media report today.

Skriniar drew strong links to Tottenham Hotspur and looked like he could have left, before ultimately staying and regaining his spot in Antonio Conte’s side.

As per CalcioMercato.com, Inter lined up Kabak, who was still at Schalke in the Bundesliga, to replace the Slovak, but in the end there was no need to seek a deal.

Spurs never offered more than €35 million to sign Skriniar, a bid Inter deemed far too low for their 26-year-old defender.

Both players have ended up benefiting from the moves falling through, with Skriniar back to his brilliant best for the Nerazzurri in recent weeks.

Kabak, meanwhile, joined Premier League champions Liverpool on loan with an option to buy last month, with Jurgen Klopp’s side battling a defensive emergency after injuries to several key players.

CM argued Inter were unlikely to get another chance to sign the Turkish youngster now, unless Kabak were to return to Schalke in the summer.
