Valencia could battle Sporting CP for the signature of Inter midfielder Joao Mario, according to a Portuguese media report today.

As per A Bola, the Spanish club have been in touch with the Portuguese midfielder’s agent Federico Pastorello regarding a possible move to the Mestalla Stadium and they were also keen on him last summer, prior to his loan move to Sporting CP.

Joao Mario has impressed on loan at Sporting CP this season, so much so that they seemingly want to buy him on a permanent basis from Inter.

Some reports have suggested that Inter have already rejected an offer from the Liga NOS leaders for the former West Ham United loanee, while others have claimed that the Nerazzurri club have not received an offer whatsoever.

Joao Mario has made 24 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals and provided as many assists for his teammates.

Sporting CP could potentially offer Inter some academy players as part of a deal, as per another report today, in a bid to reduce the Nerazzurri’s asking price.
