Inter’s next league match at home to Sassuolo has been postponed, Serie A confirmed tonight.

The Nerazzurri were due to face Roberto De Zerbi’s side at San Siro on Saturday on matchday 27 of the 2020-21 season.

However, four Inter players – Stefan de Vrij, Matias Vecino, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Samir Handanovic – have tested positive for COVID-19 this week, leading Milan’s local health authority to announce earlier that the game must be called off.

“The president of the Lega Serie A Paolo Dal Pino has ordered the postponement of Inter-Sassuolo until a later date,” a statement from the league read, as quoted by FcInterNews.it.

A report from Gazzetta dello Sport says Inter’s game with Sassuolo is likely to be rescheduled for April 7.

Inter’s next match will therefore be away to Bologna on April 3, after the international break, at which point Antonio Conte could potentially have all of his COVID-19 positive players back available.

Milan’s local health authority ordered Inter to suspend all first-team activities until Monday as part of their measures adopted this morning.

They also banned Inter’s players from travelling anywhere for 14 days, meaning none of them can respond to their international call-ups for next week’s games.

As far as the Inter’s directors are concerned, chief executive Beppe Marotta is the only person still positive after Piero Ausilio joined Alessandro Antonello, Dario Baccin and Angelo Capellini in returning a negative test yesterday.

Tuttosport’s print edition assured supporters this morning that Marotta was in a ‘more than good’ condition, though.
