Arturo Vidal has shown signs he would be interested in joining Marseille next season, according to a report in the Italian media today.

The Inter midfielder is being linked repeatedly with the Ligue 1 outfit, along with Flamengo and Galatasaray, after disappointing in his first season with the Nerazzurri.

Calciomercato.com have also reported the interest from Marseille and said Jorge Sampaoli had contacted the 33-year-old personally, receiving ‘an opening’ from Vidal regarding a summer move.

Marseille are stepping up their pursuit to sign the Chilean international – although their president Pablo Longoria reportedly played down their interest last night – and it seems Vidal could decide to move on from Inter at the end of the season.

Inter would be keen to offload Vidal so that they can get rid of his €6 million annual salary, money the Nerazzurri would then use to invest in a younger profile.

The club will sit down with the player and discuss his future in the coming weeks, but it is clear Vidal is no longer ‘untouchable’ for Inter boss Antonio Conte.

Christian Eriksen has been picked ahead of Vidal on numerous occasions since the start of February and this could have an impact on Inter’s transfer strategies.

Vidal is recovering well from undergoing knee surgery two weeks ago and is hoping to return for Inter’s match against Sassuolo, which should be rearranged for April 7.
