Inter already have a strategic advantage over Juventus and AC Milan heading into this summer’s transfer window, according to a report in the Italian media.

Calciomercato.com highlighted that the Nerazzurri had pulled clear in the Serie A title race ever since they solidified their defence, with only three goals conceded in 11 league games.

Whereas Antonio Conte’s side have a settled back-line with Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni (along with Samir Handanovic in goal), both Juventus and AC Milan have lots of question marks hanging over their defensive set-ups.

This means Inter can afford to concentrate their attention elsewhere in the summer, while their title rivals are sorting out their issues relating to the likes of Giorgio Chiellini, Alessio Romagnoli and Fikayo Tomori.

In spite of this report’s argument, Inter are in fact actively seeking a new defender in the summer, albeit they are looking for back-up options rather than starters.

Napoli’s Nikola Maksimovic, Real Betis centre-back Aissa Mandi and Lens defender Facundo Medina were all linked with the Nerazzurri today as they chase replacements for Aleksandar Kolarov and Andrea Ranocchia.

In any case, Inter are heading towards the Scudetto thanks to Conte’s rock-solid back three, which is now only one goal behind Juventus as Serie A’s best defence this season (with 26 goals conceded compared to the Bianconeri’s 25).
