Stefano Sensi could make his first Inter start for more than five months on Wednesday, according to a leading Italian broadcaster today.

The midfielder has not played with the Nerazzurri from the first minute since a 5-2 win at Benevento way back on September 30.

However, Sport Mediaset have reported that Sensi will replace the suspended Marcelo Brozovic for Inter’s rearranged Serie A game at home to Sassuolo.

The 25-year-old will take over Brozovic’s deep-lying play-maker role, with Christian Eriksen and Nicolo Barella keeping their usual places either side.

Roberto Gagliardini was reported to be the favourite to replace Brozovic by another report this morning, but SM say he will start on the bench alongside Arturo Vidal.

Brozovic picked up his fifth booking of the season during Saturday’s 1-0 win at Bologna, triggering an automatic one-match suspension for the Croatian.

Sensi is one of four Inter midfielders rumoured to be playing for their futures at the club during their Serie A title run-in, as per another source today.
