Former Inter midfielder Stephan Dalmat doesn’t feel that Inter need to move for Juventus forward Paulo Dybala on a free transfer this summer.

Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInter1908, the 42-year-old emphasized that given the quality of the attacking options already available in their team, there is little reason for the Nerazzurri to pursue the Argentine.

Dybala’s name has been heavily linked with Inter in recent weeks, with the 28-year-old’s contract situation at the Bianconeri leading to a serious possibility that he could leave at the end of his current deal in the summer.

The Argentine has shown his quality on any number of occasions in Serie A, and could be just the player needed to add a touch of extra quality to this Nerazzurri side.

However, as Dalmar points out, the team doesn’t lack for goals or quality in the final third as it is, and may consider avoiding the risk of moving for Dybala.

Asked about the Argentine, Dalmat responded that “Actually I don’t think they need him, their attack is already good enough.”

On which current Nerazzurri midfielder resembles his own style of play best, he stated that “I see a bit of myself in Barella, even if we are two different players.”

“I played in a particular way,” he recalled, “I was much more instinctive. It is also difficult to make comparisons, since football has changed a lot compared to my time.”

On current Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, Dalmat stated that “I’ve always thought that Inzaghi is the right man for Inter and he’s proved it, bringing the Nerazzurri back to the top of Serie A.”

“Now they come to a difficult period, with many difficult matches close together,” he added. “It’s a period where they’ll have to grit their teeth and hold out until the end to stay at the top.”

Of new arrivals Robin Gosens and Felipe Caicedo, the Frenchman said “Great signings. But, regardless of who arrived, I trust the club.”

“So far they have always made good choices and I’m sure this time will be no different,” he went on.

On the Nerazzurri’s Champions League tie against Liverpool, he said that “To tell you the truth, I don’t think there could have been a more complicated draw for Inter.”

“Liverpool are an absolute machine,” he went on, “if not the best team in Europe then are certainly among the best. In the course of two games, however, Inter can play their cards and try to do something incredible.”

L0oking to the derby on Saturday, he said that “I expect a very balanced match, it won’t be easy for Inter. Realistically, I expect a draw, even if I hope for an Inter win. I hope I’m wrong.”

He predicted that “It won’t be decisive, but it could be important from a psychological perspective for whoever wins.”
