Referee Davide Massa will be the referee in charge of Inter’s Coppa Italia semifinal first leg against Juventus tomorrow evening at the Allianz Arena in Turin.

This is confirmed by an official announcement of the officiating crews for both of the two semifinal first legs in the competition this week made by the Lega Serie A, as reported by FCInterNews, which also lists the rest of the officials for the match.

41-year-old referee Massa has been officiating at the Serie A level since 2011.

Additionally, the official has been in charge of several Champions League matches, whilst he has been on the FIFA referees list to take charge of international fixtures since 2014.

This season, Massa has been in charge of two Inter matches so far, both in Serie A.

The 41-year-old refereed Inter’s 1-2 loss at the hands of Roma at the San Siro in October, whilst he was also the head referee for the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 victory in the derby against AC Milan in February.

Assisting Massa in his duties will be Alessandro Costanzo and Matteo Passeri, whilst the role of fourth official will be filled by Marco Guida.

In the VAR room, Aleandro Di Paolo will oversee the match to ensure that any errors made by the on-pitch crew are corrected, whilst he will be assisted in his duties by Federico Dionisi.

Inter will be hoping that the focus can be on the action on the pitch, rather than on officiating controversies as is often the cases in Derby d’Italia clashes between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri.

The last time the two sides met, in a 1-0 Juventus win in the league, there was controversy surrounding a potential handball incident in the buildup to the Bianconeri’s goal.

Whilst the goal was allowed to stand by on-pitch referee Daniele Chiffi as well as the VAR after a lengthy check, the Nerazzurri were not happy about it, whilst coach Simone Inzaghi hit out by calling it an “unaccetpable decision.”
