Tigre striker Mateo Retegui is a major target for Eintracht Frankfurt, but the player is keen to join Inter and is waiting to see whether a move to the Nerazzurri will materialize.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports on his homepager that the 23-year-old considers joining the Nerazzurri to be a “priority” but that Eintracht are ready to push for his signature.

Retegui’s form for Tigre, where he is the top scorer in the Argentine league for this season to date, and for the Italian national team, where he has scored two goals in two matches during the international break just gone, has caused interest in his signature to skyrocket.

Inter have reportedly already agreed upon the valuation of the 23-year-old striker, whilst the Nerazzurri have been reported to be in pole position to sign the player ahead of AC Milan and Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, the Academy Director of Tigre as admitted that the “conditions are there” for a move to a club in Serie A for Retegui, amid interest from all of Udinese, Lazio, and Atalanta in addition to the Milan clubs.

However, teams from Germany could try to capture the 23-year-old ahead of their Italian rivals, with both of Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leveruksen reported to have established contacts with the player’s representatives.

According to Di Marzio, Eintracht have made the newly-capped Italian international a major target for the upcoming summer transfer window, and are only set to increase the pressure for his signature.

However, as far as the player himself is concerned, he reports, joining Inter would be Retegui’s “priority” ahead of making the move to Eintracht.

Accordingly Retegui could wait to see whether the Nerazzurri will make a move to sign him.

As Di Marzio notes, signing Retegui would not necessarily be Inter’s immediate priority, particularly given the club’s financial situation.

However, the links to the striker are strong, particularly given the Nerazzurri-owned striker Facundo Colidio could be offered as part of a deal for the 23-year-old, who is keen on making the switch.
