Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani is set to be given the opportunity to start this evening’s Coppa Italia semifinal first leg match against Juventus.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Albanian will be in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven for the match, whilst coach Simone Inzaghi has a few selection doubts remaining.

Asllani has found playing time fairly hard to come by this season since joining Inter from Empoli during the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old still has the full faith of the Nerazzurri, who see him as a major prospect for the future and would have no intention of selling him.

Asllani was brought in as a deputy to Marcelo Brozovic in the deep-lying playmaker position last summer.

However, the situation in the position has changed throughout the season as Hakan Calhanoglu has emerged as first-choice in the role during Brozovic’s lengthy injury layoffs this season.

It has been reported that Asllani will be given more playing time during a packed month of April, partly due to the need to rotate the squad and also because of the fact that there is increasing uncertainty around the future of Brozovic at the club.

Moreover, an injury to Calhanoglu who is set to miss out on at least a couple weeks following a thigh strain suffered whilst on international duty could also open the door for Asllani.

In any event, Tuttosport report that Asllani will be given the chance against Juventus this evening, in a competition where he has already appeared against Parma in the round of sixteen.

Another young player who could also be given a chance from the start is Raoul Bellanova, who had impressed with his substitute appearance against Fiorentina over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport report that Federico Dimarco will return to the starting eleven now that he is fit, whilst Inzaghi has not yet made a decision between Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku to start alongside Lautaro Martinez in attack.
