Inter striker Romelu Lukaku will be in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven for this Friday’s Serie A match away to Salernitana.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Belgian will retain his starting spot from last Saturday’s Serie A match against Fiorentina.

Lukaku has not fully cemented a starting place for himself at Inter since returning from a serious injury that had severely restricted his ability to make an impact on his return to the Nerazzurri.

It has been reported that whilst the Belgian is very keen to stay past the end of his current loan deal from Chelsea, he still has to convince the Nerazzurri to keep him with his performances in the run-in of the season.

The 29-year-old scored the winning goal in a 1-0 Champions League round of sixteen first leg match against Porto, and also scored a late penalty to equalize against Juventus in a Coppa Italia Coppa Italia semifinal first leg yesterday.

The Inter striker was that controversially sent off following racist chants aimed at him from Bianconeri fans in yesterday evening’s Coppa Italia match.

Lukaku had started against La Viola over the weekend, whilst he came off the bench in yesterday evening’s match.

According to Sky, he will be back in the starting eleven against Salernitana, with the Nerazzurri travelling to Salerno to face the Granata at the Stadio Arechi in a match whose kickoff was moved forward a day due to the Nerazzurri’s Champions League commitments against Benfica.

Given that Inter have lost their last three matches in Serie A, and four out of the five most recent matches they’ve played in the league, they will be desperate for a win against Paulo Sosa’s men.

From Lukaku’s perspective, the Chelsea-owned striker will be looking to finally make the kind of impact that’s been expected from him on his return so that he will stay on for another season.
