The agent of Bologna coach Thiago Motta has reiterated the coach’s commitment to his current club amid some rumours that he is on Inter’s shortlist of replacements for Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the 40-year-old’s agent Alessandro Canovi made clear that at the moment there is still a year left on his contract with the Rossoblu and that he’s not getting ahead of himself.

Current Bologna coach and former Inter and PSG midfielder Motta has been one of the names linked with the Nerazzurri if they are to decide to sack Simone Inzaghi during the summer.

The fact that Motta has history with Inter from his playing days could make a move to the Giuseppe Meazza relatively straightforward as he wouldn’t require the same settling-in period that some other coaches would.

Moreover, few could deny that the job that the 40-year-old, who has also coached the likes of Spezia and Genoa in Serie A in addition to PSG’s youth team, has done at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara since taking over midway through this season has been an impressive one.

In any event, however, Motta’s agent has stressed that the coach’s priority is not necessarily to immediately take the next step.

As Canovi points out, the coach is still under contract for one more season with the Rossoblu, whilst it is also reported that the Emilans are trying to extend the 40-year-old’s contract past the end of next June.

“He’s already a great coach, and above all, an excellent professional,” Motta’s agent Canovi said of the former Nerazzurri midfielder.

“The results that he’s getting speak for themselves.”

And of the coach’s future, with Inter as well as other top European clubs looming in the background, Canovi said that “For now he’s only focused on Bologna.”

“We’ll see what happens, but right now he has a year left on his contract.”
