Young Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani is set to receive a rare opportunity to prove himself from the start in tomorrow evening’s Serie A match against Monza.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 21-year-old will be one of six changes to the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven at the San Siro tomorrow compared to the team that lined up against Benfica in midweek.

Asllani has yet to really stake a claim for himself at Inter since his arrival from Empoli last summer.

The Albanian international was brought in with the idea of becoming a deputy to Marcelo Brozovic at the base of the Nerazzurri’s midfielder, but some unexpected injury problems for the Croat meant that it was considered too soon to really throw him into the deep end.

Rather, it was the more experienced Hakan Calhanoglu who was transitioned into the regista role, and the fact that the former AC Milan hass really thrived there has made it all the more difficult for Asllani to receive playing time this season.

This does not mean that the Nerazzurri have lost faith in the young former Empoli man, and quite the contrary, reports have suggested that the club have absolutely zero intention of selling Asllani who they still have faith in for the future.

Tomorrow evening, moreover, the young midfielder should be given a chance to start against Monza, with Brozovic likely to drop out of the team according to the Corriere, whilst Calhanoglu is back in full training but nevertheless extremely unlikely to start.

Asllani will hardly be the only change made to the team by coach Simone Inzaghi, though, as it will be an extensively rotated starting eleven compared to the one that faced Benfica in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg on Tuesday.

The Corriere’s complete predicted starting eleven for the clash is as follows:

Inter (3-5-2): Onana; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Gosens; Lukaku, Correa.
