Tigre and Italian national team striker Mateo Retegui is keen to make the move to Inter this summer, preferring the Nerazzurri to other possible destinations.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are confident that they can beat Eintracht Frankfurt in particular to the 23-year-old’s interest, particularly given an informal agreement with the player and his representatives.

Retegui’s emergence with the Italian national team has hardly gone unnoticed by clubs around Europe.

According to Tuttosport, there is now no doubt that Inter are one of the striker’s foremost suitors, given that the Nerazzurri know they will have to make attacking reinforcements during the summer transfer window whether or not they have Champions League revenues next season.

However, there are also Eintracht Frankurt tracking the young striker, with Tuttosport confirming that the German club are very keen, as Gianluca Di Marzio had already reported.

According to the newspaper, the 2022 Europa League winners would see Retegui as a prospective replacement for Randal Kolo Muani during the summer transfer window, with the French international widely expected to leave during the summer transfer window.

Whilst Eintracht’s interest in signing Retegui, who has also been linked with Lazio among other Serie A clubs, is real, Tuttosport report that Inter have a better chance of signing the 23-year-old.

Meanwhile, there is the fact that Retegui is currently on loan at Tigre from Boca Juniors, with the former having the option to sign him permanently but then the latter being entitled to a significant chunk of any sale in the form of a sell-on fee to potentially complicate things.

Tuttosport also note that Inter could offer striker Facundo Colidio, currently on loan at Tigre playing alongside Retegui and a target for both Tigre and Boca, as part of a deal to sign Retegui.
