Italian agent Vincenze Cavaliere feels that Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic should not be sold as he is a “bandiera” of the Nerazzurri squad.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia, via FCInterNews, the Italian agent argued why the Nerazzurri should not consider a sale of the 30-year-old Croatian international as has been rumoured at the end of the season.

Whilst Brozovic only signed a contract extension keeping him at Inter until the end of June 2026 a little over twelve months ago, a lot has changed during the ensuing period.

It has been reported that the Nerazzurri are likely to sell the 30-year-old this summer, with the possibility of a swap deal with Barcelona for midfielder Franck Kessie having been persistently rumoured.

A key reason for this has been the form of Hakan Calhanoglu who has emerged as a starting-quality option in the deepest role in the Nerazzurri’s midfield trio where Brozovic usually plays.

Meanwhile, Brozovic’s form this season has not been up to the same standard as last season, with injuries playing a major role in his not being able to put together a consistent string of matches where he’s been integral to the way that the team plays as he had done last campaign.

Then, there is the fact that Kristjan Asllani was brought in from Empoli last season, and whilst the 21-year-old has not made all that many appearances this campaign, he is reportedly still seen by the club as a long-term option in the regista position.

However, Brozovic has shown in some of his recent performances just how important he can still be to the Nerazzurri, including his outstanding displays against Lazio in Serie A and Benfica in the Champions League.

For his part, agent Cavaliere feels that “Brozovic is a bandiera for Inter,” a term denoting a player who is central to a team, a leader and a symbol.

“He shouldn’t be sold,” the agent argued of the Croat, going against the grain of some of the transfer rumours.
