Inter Milan linked France FIFA World Cup winner and central defender Benjamin Pavard could leave Bayern Munich this summer.

This according to German broadcaster Sky Sport Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenberg, as reported via Inter Milan news-site FcInterNews, who report that Pavard’s future is very much up in the air.

The former Vfb Stuttgart defender’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June 2024 and contract talks are yet to begin with the Frenchman not prepared to extend at all costs, the report continues.

“Benjamin Pavard is currently one of the most in-form players at Bayern, which is why the the club’s directors will soon meet with the players representatives to for the first time discuss a contract extension.

“It will come down to a question of money. Bayern are not prepared to extend at all costs. Right now, I don’t think that Pavard will stay at Bayern past this summer.

“If I had to decide now, I would say that Pavard will leave Bayern this summer” Plettenberg concludes.

Pavard Inter Milan’s “Dream Signing”

Inter Milan have long been linked with the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, especially this past January when there were rumors that Milan Skriniar could leave to join Paris Saint-Germain imminently.

In the end, the Slovakian international defender ended up staying at Inter and so did Benjamin Pavard, with his agent releasing a statement at the time that the player was happy to end the season with the Bavarians.

However, despite this rumors have continued to link Inter with a move for Pavard given his stature, quality and ability to play as a central defender in a back 4 but above all also as a defender to the right of a back three.

Should contract talks between Bayern and Pavard, who turned 27 years old this past March, fall through, Inter will enquire to see if there is a chance to sign the player this coming summer, as a replacement for PSG destines Skriniar.

Bayern Declined Offer For Pavard In January

Bayern Munich’s Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed in February that they had received an attractive offer for Pavard in January without mentioning which club it came from but adding that in the end they had decided to turn it down.

“Benjamin is an important player, he’s versatile and an important player in defense. We have big goals for the season, and so we decided that we can’t do without him.

“On a financial level, it was an attractive offer, but for us the sporting side of things always comes first” Salihamidzic said at the time.
