Romelu Lukaku will tell Chelsea that he wants to stay at Inter Milan next season.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Belgian’s decision is clear. As things stand, Lukaku’s loan spell at Inter will finish at the end of next month.

It is not clear what will happen beyond that point. Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has confirmed that the 30-year-old will return to Chelsea, at least initially. Then it it is up to the two clubs to find an agreement.

It has been reported that Lukaku will play for Chelsea next season. The fact that Mauricio Pochettino is set to be confirmed as Blues coach could also be a key factor.

However, there is also the desire of the player to consider.

According to the Gazzetta, from Lukaku’s perspective there is little doubt. The Belgian’s priority is to stay in Milan and continue to play for the Nerazzurri next season.

Romelu Lukaku To Tell Chelsea He Only Wants Inter Milan

Lukaku’s will has already proved decisive in bringing him back to Inter once in the past.

Last summer, the Belgian made the highly improbable return to the Nerazzurri on loan. This would never have happened without the player himself pushing for it.

Chelsea had signed Lukaku for a massive transfer fee during the summer of 2021. However, after a tough season at Stamford Bridge the Belgian made clear that he wanted to go back to Inter.

The striker was persistent, and ultimately Chelsea relented and sat down at the table with Inter.

According to the Gazzetta, Lukaku plans to do the same thing this summer. Whether or not Chelsea are thinking about bringing him back, the striker will push to stay at Inter.

There is also Inter’s decision to consider. However, with a MOTM match-winning display against Sassuolo yesterday in Serie A, he may have taken another step towards convincing the Nerazzurri.
