Beppe Marotta has doubled down on his support for coach Simone Inzaghi at Inter Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri CEO emphasized the finals that Inzaghi has brought the team to.

Whilst Inzaghi has come in for some criticism throughout the season, and some rumours about his future viability at Inter, it now looks abundantly clear that the club will go on with him for another season.

Marotta made that very clear yesterday. The CEO stated that the chance is “100%” that Inzaghi. He also suggested that the Nerazzurri have never seriously considered sacking the 47-year-old.

Inter President Steven Zhang also confirmed as much after the Champions League semifinal second leg against AC Milan.

From the outside, this appears to be something of a turnaround.

For weeks, Inzaghi’s job had appeared to be at serious risk. A dreadful sequence of results had left the Nerazzurri’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League in jeopardy.

However, Marotta has tempered this notion to a significant degree.

From the perspective of the CEO, the club has always taken a more nuanced perspective in their assessment of Inzaghi.

Marotta: Simone Inzaghi Has Never Been Under Fire At Inter

“Inzaghi is our coach,” Marotta said. “A top professional.”

“Coaches must be evaluated based on how they work, and he’s working well, providing continuity.”

“This season he has given us two important finals,” Marotta noted. “One absolutely cannot speak of criticism from the club. At the most, there have been disagreements that have arisen during difficult moments this season.”

Marotta also weighed in on the decision to reinstate a points deduction to Juventus due to the ongoing capital gains case.

“I can’t speak to the question of whether or not it’s fair,” the Inter CEO said.

“I’ll just say that this is an opportunity to reform the sporting justice code, so that points aren’t being taken away, given back, taken away,” he added.
