Inter Milan could get a deal done for Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi by first selling some young talents.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who list Giovanni Fabbian, Gaetano Oristanio, and Samuele Mullattieri as players the Nerazzurri could cash in on to meet the €40 million asking price for Frattesi.
Yesterday, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta gave an interview in which he confirmed the Nerazzurri’s interest in signing Frattesi.
The Nerazzurri executive also admitted that Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini is on Inter’s radar.
The Gazzetta provide further confirmation. The Milan-based newspaper report that the two young Italian players are among Inter’s dream targets for the summer.
However, signing them would not prove straightforward by any means.
The key reason for this is that both Frattesi and Scalvini would command a hefty price tag already this summer.
Inter Milan Could Sell To Buy Sassuolo Star Davide Frattesi
The Gazzetta note that Inter could have hope in the chase for Frattesi. The Nerazzurri have a plan for how to snatch the 23-year-old, who is one of their major midfield targets.
First, there is the extra income from the Champions League this season. Inter have brought in a big unexpected windfall from reaching the final of Europe’s top club competition.
Moreover, the Nerazzurri can look to sell some high-value youngsters in order to fund a move for Frattesi.
The likes of Fabbian, Oristanio, and Mullattieri could fetch a total that would be sufficient for Inter to reinvest in the €30-40 million fee for the Neroverdi midfielder.
Frattesi is also on the radar of Juventus. Meanwhile, Roma remain keen, and the fact that they hold a sell-on clause worth 30% of any eventual fee for Frattesi could give the Giallorossi an advantage.
The Gazzetta also confirm that Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion are targeting Frattesi.
Meanwhile, the Gazzetta also note that young Atalanta defender Scalvini is also a serious target for Inter.
A move for the 19-year-old would certainly be ambitious, given his minimum €40 million price tag. However, the Nerazzurri can dream of signing Scalvini for the same reasons they can Frattesi.
However, the Gazzetta report, Atalanta would like to keep Scalvini for another season. La Dea hope to see the young defender’s value rise even further.
