Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi feels that winning the Coppa Italia again would be hugely important for the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset ahead of tomorrow evening’s final against Fiorentina, via FCInterNews, the coach also talked about how getting the backing of Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and President Steven Zhang has helped him in his work.

Inter will face Fiorentina tomorrow, with the Coppa Italia in the balance.

Last season, the Nerazzurri beat Juventus in the final of the competition. Inter overcame the Bianconeri in a 4-2 thriller to get their hands on the trophy for the first time in over a decade.

Now, the Nerazzurri have the opportunity to make it two in two seasons. From the perspective of coach Inzaghi, this would be massive for the team.

Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi: Defending Coppa Italia Very Important

Of what it feels like to be back in the final, Inzaghi said that “Clearly it’s a great feeling.”

“We know we’re the holders of this title, and we’re facing a team who’re in good form,” he continued.

“But we want to face this final in the best possible way, and try to win it.”

Asked if he’d have preferred having more time to prepare for tomorrow’s match, Inzaghi replied “Clearly, yes, but I think it’s the same for Italiano.”

“This is the way it is for anyone who goes deep into every competition,” the Inter coach said. “Tomorrow will be our seventeenth match in 53 days, and we’ll have to approach it in the right way.”

“We have to be good at being a team,” he added.

Inzaghi Happy To Have Backing Of Marotta & Zhang

In the last week, the likes of Inter CEO Marotta and President Zhang have put their full faith in Inzaghi.

Despite the persistent rumours that the Nerazzurri could change coaches next season, that’s all in the past. It now looks very clear that Inter will stick with Inzaghi.

Asked if this gives him confidence, the coach replied “Clearly.”

“I’ve always had great strength and desire,” he continued. I’m also lucky enough to have players who give me what I need, they’ve gotten through the last twenty months with me in the best way possible.”

“Beyond that, the words of esteem give us confidence, and allow us to focus ahead of the final.”

Of the squad rotation that has helped Inter get through a packed fixture list, Inzaghi said that “We’ve done well.”

“We’ve alternated players, I’ve made my decisions,” he noted. “We knew what kind of fixture list we had in store for us.”

“Now there are four matches left, two finals and two very important league matches.”

“As always, I’ll need everyone’s help for a very intense run-in for the season,” Inzaghi made clear.
