Inter Milan, Newcastle United, Man City, Atletico Madrid, and Chelsea are all eyeing up a move for young Atalanta and Italy defender Giorgio Scalvini.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that La Dea don’t want to sell the €40 million rated 19-year-old this summer, but that should contract talks stall he could be on his way.

It is no secret that Inter are interested in signing Scalvini.

Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta recently confirmed that the teenager is a target for the club.

Inter would see Scalvini as the dream target to reinforce the defense following Milan Skriniar’s exit to join Paris Saint-Germain.

However, just as clear as Inter’s interest in the 19-year-old is the difficulty in getting a deal done for him.

Inter, Man City & More Want Scalvini – But Atalanta Reluctant To Sell

Right now, FCIN report, Atalanta’s strategy is to keep hold of Scalvini for at least one more season.

The Bergamo-based club’s strategy is to keep hold of the young defender for at least one more season. Atalanta feel that Scalvini’s value will only rise over the next year or so.

La Dea expect that if Scalvini stays until at least next summer, they can sell him for a higher fee than they could in the upcoming transfer window.

Particularly if Scalvini were to play an important role for Italy at EURO 2024, top clubs will be interested.

It is not as though Europe’s elite aren’t already taking note, however. FCIN note that apart from Inter, all of Manchester City, Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid, and Chelsea are keen.

Tottenham Hotspur had also targeted the 19-year-old whilst Antonio Conte was head coach.

Inter are reportedly ready to offer young midfielder Giovanni Fabbian as part of a deal for Scalvini.

Contract Talks Between Scalvini & Atalanta Could Be Key

The one factor that could force Atalanta’s hand somewhat would be if they cannot agree a new contract with Scalvini.

The 19-year-old currently earns €250,000 net per season, rising to €400,000 with add-ons.

Atalanta are ready to offer Scalvini a new deal worth €1 million net per season for next season. This would reflect the young defender’s importance to the team and the fact that there is so much interest in his signature.

However, as of yet Scalvini has not accepted La Dea’s offer.

Possibly in the back of the player’s mind is the fact that he could earn far more elsewhere.

If Atalanta can convince Scalvini to accept an improved deal, then they can keep hold of the 19-year-old for another season.

However, if Scalvini is reluctant to accept the offer, they may sell him this summer.
