Atalant coach Gian Piero Gasperini wants Inter Milan midfielder Giovanni Fabbian as part of a deal for defender Giorgio Scalvini.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that 20-year-old midfielder Fabbian is a player who the La Dea coach is very keen on, and that he’d be willing to let the Bergamo-based club sell Scalvini in order to land him.

It’s no secret that Inter are admirers of young Atalanta defender Scalvini.

Nerazzurri Beppe Marotta confirmed as much in a recent interview.

The 19-year-old and Sassuolo star Davide Frattesi are reportedly among the Nerazzurri’s major targets to revitalize the squad with young Italian talent to build around.

Landing Scalvini won’t be easy, however. CM report that the price tag for the 19-year-old defender would be no less than €30-35 million.

This is no small investment for a club in Inter’s financial position. Moreover, the Nerazzurri face the competition of European giants Manchester City, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich for Scalvini’s signature.

Atletico Madrid and Juventus are also keen.

Inter could face an uphill battle to sign Scalvini, but they also have a potential ace in the hole.

Gasperini Wants Inter Starlet Fabbian As Part Of Scalvini Deal

Fabbian has been reported as a possible makeweight in a deal for Scalvini for some time now.

CM add the further detail that it is Atalanta coach Gasperini who is the driver of his club’s interest in the Nerazzurri-owned midfield.

Fabbian has been shining on loan with Reggina in Serie B this season. This has led to the interest of a number of clubs in his signature.

According to CM, Gasperini in particular believes that Fabbian would be ready to make the step up into the top flight playing for a team like La Dea.

The 65-year-old sees Fabbian as a major target to strengthen for the future.

As such, Atalanta could be inclined to make a deal that involves Scalvini if it means that they can bring in Fabbian.

This would certainly be no small help for Inter in beating out the competition and greatly lowering the cash fee they’d have to pay for the 19-year-old.

Meanwhile, the likes of Napoli and Lazio are also interested in Fabbian’s signature.
