Talks between Inter Milan and Monza linked defender Danilo D’Ambrosio regarding a possible contract extension are currently stalling.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 34-year-old, who is also a target for teams in the Turkish Super League, wants a new two-year deal whereas the Nerazzurri are only ready to offer a one-season extension.

As things stand, D’Ambrosio’s contract with Inter is set to expire at the end of next June.

The veteran defender, who joined the Nerazzurri from Torino in January of 2014, signed a one-season extension last summer. However, that contract is now nearly set to run out.

The contract talks between Inter and D’Ambrosio and his representatives have gone on for some time. However, there has been no rush to push through a conclusion.

Nevertheless, it is now getting very close to a point where a decision must be made.

According to FCIN, the talks are currently at a stalemate.

Inter Milan Contract Talks Stalling With Monza Target Danilo D’Ambrosio

The reason that talks between Inter and D’Ambrosio are not currently taking off does not concern wages. According to FCIN, there is little trouble between the parties as far as agreeing financial terms.

However, where there is difficulty is on the duration of a prospective new deal.

D’Ambrosio, who has made a total of fifteen appearances in Serie A this season and 22 in all competitions, is keen to sign a new two-year deal with Inter.

Meanwhile, given the versatile defender’s age, the Nerazzurri are only ready to offer a one-year extension, as he signed last summer.

Now, it remains to be seen whether Inter and D’Ambrosio can come together on an agreement on the length of a new deal. If not, the 35-year-old will be free to leave on a free transfer after almost a decade in an Inter shirt.

Should D’Ambrosio leave on a free transfer, FCIN report that there are two clubs in Serie A keen to sign him.

One of these is Monza, whilst another is unnamed.

Meanwhile, the Italian outlet reports, teams in the Turkish Super League are also interested in signing D’Ambrosio should he leave Inter.
