Roma are ready to join Inter Milan in the race to sign Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario this summer.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInter1908, who report that the Giallorossi have made an initial offer of €15 million for the 26-year-old, but that Empoli are asking for at least €25 million for his signature.
Vicario has come onto the radar of a number of Serie A’s biggest clubs.
The young keeper’s performances over the past two seasons for Empoli have convinced some of Italian football’s elite that he is ready to make the step up.
Empoli coach Paolo Zanetti has even confirmed that he expects Vicario to be on his way this summer. The coach praised the keeper and suggested that he is ready to be playing for a bigger club next season.
Inter have been one of the clubs most strongly linked with a move for Vicario.
Reports have named the 26-year-old as the Nerazzurri’s first-choice target to replace Andre Onana if the Cameroonian is sold. Onana is reportedly on Chelsea and Manchester United‘s radar.
Juventus are also reportedly keen.

Howewver, another big name from the Italian football has stepped up with an interest in signing Vicario.
According to La Repubblica, Roma have already made Empoli and offer. However, the capital club’s opening bid has been turned down.
The Tuscans value Vicario at at least €25 million, according to the Rome-based newspaper.
It remains to be seen whether Roma will be willing to raise their offer or not.
Jose Mourinho’s team would be looking to replace 35-year-old former Sporting CP and Wolverhampton Wanders keeper Rui Patricio.
