Inter Milan are on high alert with Lazio set to sell midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic during the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Biancocelesti would accept a fee of around €40 million for the 28-year-old rather than allow him to leave on a free transfer.

Midfielder Milinkovic-Savic looks set to leave Lazio after eight seasons with the club from the Italian capital.

The reason for this is the Serbian international’s contract – Milnikovic-Savic’s deal with the Biancocelesti runs out at the end of next June.

Given that the midfielder doesn’t look set to pen an extension, Lazio will look to sell him this summer. The Biancocelesti want to cash in while they have the chance.

Inter Milan Ready To Move If Lazio Sell Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Moving for Milinkovic-Savic wouldn’t be easy for Inter. The Nerazzurri would likely have to make a big sale before they can afford the Serbian international.

Even at €40 million, a discount fee conditioned by the player’s contract situation, Milinkovic-Savic would represent a significant investment.

However, the midfielder would be brought within reach for Inter by his contract situation.

According to the Corriere, Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri has signed off on the idea of selling Milinkovic-Savic.

The newspaper reports that the coach’s perspective is that it’s better to cash in on a player who doesn’t want to pen a new deal. Sarri would rather the Biancocelesti make a sale and then reinvest the fee in the transfer market.

Accordingly, there seems to be little question that Lazio are ready to sell Milinkovic-Savic.

There is certainly no shortage of interest in the Serb’s signature. Teams in the Premier League are keen.

Arsenal and Newcastle United are among the clubs linked with a move for Milinkovic-Savic.

However, Inter believe that there is a path for them to sign the 28-year-old with Lazio ready to sell.
