Real Madrid’s Nacho and Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini could be among the players to arrive as Inter Milan are set for an overhaul in the defense this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInter1908. The newspaper also name Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard, Lille’s Tiago Djalo, and on-loan Lorenzo Pirola as possible arrivals.

One thing is clear – Inter will have to make at least one or two signings in defense this summer.

Milan Skriniar will leave to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer. He will leave on a free transfer when his contract runs out.

Moreover, the Slovakian’s contract isn’t the only one expiring at the end of the month.

The futures of all of Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan de Vrij, and Francesco Acerbi also remain uncertain.

Accordingly, if any of the three follow Skriniar out the door, replacements will be on the way.

Nacho & Scalvini Among Inter Milan Targets This Summer

One experienced player who could come in and bolster the Nerazzurri’s defensive ranks is Real Madrid veteran Nacho Fernandez. The 33-year-old’s deal at the Bernabeu is expiring, and Inter have offered him a three-year deal.

At the other end of the experience spectrum would be Atalanta starlet Giorgio Scalvini.

Signing the 19-year-old won’t be easy considering La Dea are asking for a minimum of €35-40 million for his signature. However, Inter believe there’s a way, and will make an attempt for him.

Another player on Inter’s radar as far as defensive targets go is Lille’s Tiago Djalo.

The Portuguese international is currently out with a long-term knee injury. However, Tuttosport report that the Nerazzurri are still big fans and are considering him as part of a long-term defensive rebuilt.

Benjamin Pavard is another name that has come up recently for Inter in defense. The 27-year-old French international wants to leave Bayern Munich, and is only a year away from the expiration of his contract.

Lastly, Tuttosport note, there is Lorenzo Pirola.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Salernitana. The Granata have a purchase option which they are expected to trigger.

However, if Salernitana don’t sign Pirola permanently, or if Inter exercise a buyback clause, he could well be part of the plans for next season.
